About Infronte SOJT
Learning technology is only half the journey.
Infronte SOJT gives aspiring technology professionals practical experience of how engineering teams really work.
Our mission
To bridge the gap between academic knowledge and the practical experience technology organisations need.
Infronte SOJT (Structured On-the-Job Training) gives aspiring technology professionals the chance to experience how engineering teams actually work, before they are expected to do it on the job.
Why we started
Talented people were being held back by a missing piece.
Universities, colleges and online courses do a good job of teaching how technologies work. What they rarely offer is time inside a working engineering team: picking up a ticket, agreeing an approach, opening a pull request, responding to review feedback and watching your change go live.
That experience is exactly what many employers look for, and it is hard to get without already having a job. Infronte SOJT was established to break that cycle by creating a structured environment where people can gain it.
The practical skills gap
Knowing a technology is not the same as working with it.
The gap shows up in the everyday work of a technology team, not in exams.
What study often covers
What teams need
Writing code that runs on your own machine
Shipping code that others review, test and deploy
Completing individual assignments
Delivering work as part of a team, sprint by sprint
Following a tutorial to set up a cloud service
Designing, automating and monitoring cloud infrastructure
Using AI tools
Building, integrating and operating AI-powered applications
Answering theory questions
Explaining technical decisions to colleagues and stakeholders
Why real-world experience matters
Experience builds the confidence that tutorials can't.
It shows employers what you can do
A portfolio of work produced the way professional teams produce it is easier to discuss than a list of courses.
It shortens the learning curve
People who have already worked with sprints, code reviews and pipelines can contribute sooner in a new role.
It builds professional habits
Documentation, testing, communication and ownership become part of how you work, not extra tasks.
Our approach to developing talent
Structured, practical and team-based.
- 01
Learn by doing
Participants spend their time on realistic engineering tasks rather than only lectures and theory tests.
- 02
A simulated enterprise environment
Work is organised the way technology organisations organise it, with teams, roles, sprints and professional tools.
- 03
Progression with structure
Participants move through clear stages, taking on more complex work and more responsibility as their skills grow.
- 04
Collaboration and feedback
Code reviews, shared ownership and regular feedback help participants improve with every piece of work.
Who it's for
Designed for ambitious people at different starting points.
University graduates
Turn qualifications into practical engineering experience.
Career changers
Find a structured, approachable route into technology work.
Early-career professionals
Gain experience of a professional engineering environment.
Aspiring AI engineers
Move from using AI tools to building AI systems.
Uganda and beyond
Developing technology talent in Uganda for local and international opportunities.
Infronte SOJT is focused first on Uganda, where a growing number of graduates and career changers want to build careers in technology.
Technology teams increasingly work across borders, using the same tools and practices wherever they are. By training participants in those shared ways of working, the programme aims to prepare them for opportunities both in Uganda and in international technology markets.
